SEA PERCH
Atlas Science Center is forming 2 teams of 4-5 middle school students for SeaPerch, an underwater robotics program that equips students with the resources they need to build an underwater remotely operated vehicle.
This is a program that culminates with a regional competition where they test their ROVs in a series of obstacles and give a presentation in front of a panel of judges about their journey building them.
Participation will be free for the students but will require a time commitment. Once teams are formed, they will meet with an Atlas educator who will be their coach for the duration of the competition season. Meetings will be 1 ½ hours long, three times a month for three months (mid Nov 2023- mid Feb 2024).
Competition day is on February 17, 2024 at Ashwaubenon High School
Students will learn:
The engineering process
Hard skills: soldering, tool use and management, connecting wires and batteries.
Soft skills: eye-hand coordination, teamwork, project management, public speaking, note taking and documentation.
Regional champion teams get a spot in the national competition.
For more information, please contact our Lead Educator Claudia Damiani at claudia@sciencecenter.org.
*We now have a wait list. Please note that submitting a form will not guarantee a spot on the team, but if still interested, fill out the below form and if spots open up we will contact you in order received. Thank you.
